Pittsburgh Collects

Pittsburgh Collectsaccompanies an exhibition at the Frick Art and Historical Center that ran from October 23, 2004, to January 2, 2005. Highlighting the Italian, French, Dutch, Flemish, and English schools, the artworks on display are drawn from local private collections as well as the Carnegie Museum of Art. Featured artists include Antonio Canaletto, Guido Reni, Jacopo Tintoretto, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Jean Baptiste Pater, Hubert Robert, Anthony Van Dyck, and Thomas Rowlandson. Information about provenance and exhibition history is included, along with a discussion of changes in styles and the role of drawings in artists' training during the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries.
