To mark ten years since Labour's election, the next generation of British and US political thinkers, including MPs, Ministers and policy specialists have come together to outline what the next phase of the progressive agenda should be and how it can be achieved. Using evidence-based research and the most promising new theories, this collection of essays will consider the direction of progressive governance, politics and policy in the next decade.

NICK PEARCE is Director of ippr. Nick is a regular media commentator on political and social issues and has authored numerous books and papers on education, social justice, immigration and citizenship, the future of the welfare state, and South American politics. Nick was formerly a Special Adviser to David Blunkett at the Home Office (2001 - 2003). Publications include Social Justice: Building a Fairer Britain (2005) and Quiet Revolution: Progressive Government in South America (2005).

JULIA MARGO is ippr Senior Research Fellow and head of the Directors' Research Team. Julia is a regular commentator in the national press and other media. She is also editor of the political journal Public Policy Research. Julia spent four years at The Sunday Times as a commissioning editor on the News Review and prior to that she worked as a parliamentary assistant to Paddy Ashdown and Simon Hughes MP. Publications include Population Politics (2006), Freedom's Orphans (2006) and Progressive Liberalism (2007).
