Friedrich Schleiermacher (17681834) had great oratorical and literary impact as a preacher. The present volume inaugurates Section III of the Complete Critical Edition; it contains the first four of a total of seven collections of sermons that were collected and published by Schleiermacher himself. The volume is also furnished with an appendix that contains a calendar, which records the actual dates that the 3,565 sermons were delivered; there are textual sources available for 1,360 of these dates, which are documented in the section of Critical Complete Edition devoted to Sermons.
