In the 21st century, the concept of ethics may seem outdated or obsolete. But in reality, ethics is the omnipresent, ongoing discussion going on in our global communities today. Systematically, people condemn, sanction, demonize, and freely judge one another. As a result, by addressing the simplest of questions ("How do we act?" and "What do we think of others?"), laws are legislated and the moral code is created. But what is morality, exactly? And how does the moral code shape the story of our lives?

Laurent Bègue, PhD, is professor of social psychology at University of Grenoble Alpes in France and was a visiting professor at Stanford University. He is the author of several books and many scientific papers and book chapters. Dr. Bègue's research has appeared in many publications, including Time, The Atlantic, Slate, New York Post, The Huffington Post, National Geographic, and more. He lives with his family in a small old village in the French Alps founded in the beginning of the 12th century.
