Puppet Play 20 Puppet Projects Made with Recycled Mittens, Towels, Socks, and More

In todayrs"s tough economic times, parents are looking for creative ways to cut back. During the Great Depression, when fabric and materials were scarce, people began reusing socks to make toys, and the iconic sock monkey and other such toys would delight kids for generations thereafter. Add the current popularity of Uglydolls, and the rise in puppet shows as entertainment, and you have the makings of a best-selling craft book. This adorable book features 20 puppet projects that can be made from recycled clothing and simple crafting materials. Each project will have how-to illustrations drawn by Diana, who is a professional childrenrs"s book illustrator. There will also be 10-15 full-color photos of finished puppets throughout the book. In addition to the puppets, the book will contain a chapter to guide kids in creating their own puppet shows with their new creations.

Diana Schoenbrun teaches puppet and playwriting workshops for children ages 6 to 9 at 826NYC, a nonprofit center founded by Dave Eggers. She currently works at Puppet Heap, a unique design studio located in Hoboken, New Jersey. Diana resides in Brooklyn, New York.
