Faisel Iglesias was born in Pilotos, Pinar del Rfo, Cuba, in 1953. He is a lawyer, journalist and writer. His essays have been published in Cuba, Spain, USA, and Puerto Rico. In 1991, Letras Cubanas published a fragment of his novel, El olor de la tierra. That novel was presented at the International Book Fair of Miami in 1996. He has been internationally recognized for his efforts in the defense of human rights. He now lives in Puerto Rico, where he works as a lawyer.
