Recording Conceptual Art

In early 1969, MFA student Patricia Norvell interviewed ten conceptual artists and one art dealer in NYC. This book publishes nine of those interviews for the first time. Norvell skillfully elicited their thoughts (sometimes pithy, sometimes diffuse) at a formative moment in American art. Some of these artists have become major figures in conceptual art.

Alexander Alberro is Assistant Professor of Modern Art at the University of Florida. Patricia Norvell is an artist living in New York City. She has taught at Columbia University and Hunter College, as well as other institutions.
