English summary: What happens when norms stand in conflict with each other? Christoph Lundgreen proposes here, with the help of a theory-driven approach, which touches on the fundamental concepts of various disciplines, a new reading of the constitutional law of the Roman Republic. He investigates the cases of conflict from the areas of the elections, provincial appointments, sacred law and the approval for triumphs; in the center stands the comparison of the strong rules and weak principles, whose interaction is a key for the reconstruction Roman norms. The employed principles offer a possibility to explain and therefore also to appreciate the flexibility in cases without political arbitrariness or deviance. The holds true for the roll of the Senate as arbitrator to the beginning of the second century B.C.E when, in the course of a reconstitution of the elite after the casualties of Cannae, a regulation of norms therefore led to a hardening of norms. Gerade abzuwagende Prinzipien bieten eine Moglichkeit, die Flexibilitat in der Sache ohne politische Willkur oder Devianz zu erklaren und damit auch zu wurdigen.
