Restructuring and Functional Heads The Cartography of Syntactic Structures, Volume 4

This volume collects the recent published and unpublished articles of distinguished linguist Guglielmo Cinque of the University of Venice. These articles focus on his recent interest in two related topics: restructuring (clause union) and clausal structure more generally. This interest is in part an outgrowth of his research on adverbs, which has led him to postulate a universal hierarchy of clause level functional heads, which in turn has spurred productive work by others in morphosyntax over the last few years. These essays constitute a refinement of his earlier proposals on the 'cartography' of the structure of the clause.
