Rising Tension in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union

The Rome-Based International School of Disarmament and Research Conflict (ISODARCO) has recently organized a series of meetings to review the prospects for the countries of the Former Soviet Union and of the European members of the former Warsaw Treaty Organization. This volume consists of surveys placed before these ISODARCO meetings.The authors include Western experts, as well as distinguished scholars from the region under review. Among the latter are well-known Directors of Moscow Institutes, namely Georgi Arbatov and Alexei Vasilyev. Both domestic and international aspects of the increasing tension affecting the region are given close attention.
