Risks and Reconstruction

This volume offers a comparative analysis between two groups of displaced people: resettlers and refugees. Common themes are examined, including the notion of being "displaced"; the risks of povety and destitution and the rights and entitlements of those uprooted. An important consideration is the re-establishment and integration of refugees into existing communities. Across the world some 30 million experience refugee status, with some 10 million resettled every year by development programmes. The theory and practical implications of risk and reconstruction are explored, and whether governments and agencies can meet the challenges, amd mitigate mistakes made in the past.
