Root Beer Floats is a true story about growing up in small-town America during the 1950's. It captures the essence of the author's relationship to the beloved town of his youth during one of America's most exciting decades. From the day his father comes home after WWII, to the day heleaves the town in search of his future, he shares with us a colorful collection of his childhood memories. Brought up in a family that counted every penny, life was simple and sweet. We learnthat at a young age, his love of root beer floats not only satisfies his overactive sweet tooth, but also leads him into a battle with temptation,a battle he loses all too easily.
