Rules and Red Tape: A Prism for Public

Building on Barry Bozeman's previous book, Bureaucracy and Red Tape (2000), this fundamental reworking and extension now focuses on red tape and public management, considering the topic of ôbureaucracyö only as it frames issues of red tape. This new work-Rules and Red Tape: A Prism for Public Administration Theory and Research-includes new chapters on red tape research that review and integrate the recent work that has burgeoned in the fields of public management, public administration, and public policy subsequent to the publication of the previous book.

Barry Bozeman is Regent's Professor and Ander Crenshaw Professor of Public Policy at the University of Georgia. Before serving at Georgia, Bozeman held appointments at Georgia Tech and at Syracuse University's Maxwell School. His research focuses on public management, organization theory and science and technology policy. His most recent book is Public Value and Public Interest (2007). Dr. Bozeman is an elected Fellow of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Academy of Public Administration. Mary K. Feeney is Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on public management, sector distinctions, mentoring, and science and technology policy. Feeney holds a doctorate in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia.
