Salman Rushdie and Indian Historiography

Paying particular attention to the representation of women and to gendered notions of the nation, this book examines for the first time the marked parallels between Rushdie's critique of the Nehruvian legacy and the most significant recent trends in Indian historiography, especially the feminist and subalternist movements.

NICOLE WEICKGENANNT THIARA received her MA from Heidelberg University, Germany, in English Studies and History, and was awarded a doctoral degree in English Studies from the University of Manchester, UK. She has taught at the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and Liverpool Hope University.
