In the Sanctuary of Women

The soft melodic story of women in scripture unfolds through the prayers and reflections crafted by an artist, a writer, a woman deeply aware of the need for women to connect to God in daily conversation. Each chapter of readings is based on a woman from Jewish or Christian history and how her story intertwines with the faith journeys of women today. With this book, Jan Richardson, author of the best-selling book Sacred Journeys, considers how women have embodied and passed along the Word from generation to generation and how women of this generation draw upon that wisdom in our daily lives and connect with women who have sought God's wisdom. Jan L. Richardson is the director of The Wellspring Studio, a company thatincorporates her vocation as an artist, writer,retreat and workshop leader, and spiritualdirector. She is a United Methodist pastor, on the faculty of the Gru¿newald Guild in Washington State, and is an oblate of St. Brigid of Kildare Monastery. Richardson has published three other books: Sacred Journeys (Upper Room Books), Night Visions (United Church Press), and In Wisdom's Path (Pilgrim Press).
