An all-ages (14-up) time-travel fantasy features a teen African-American, Oscar Lincoln, and his prison therapist, Jessica Blue, alternating between their differing points of view. After experimental therapy with a new drug utilized by psychiatrist, Dr. Kantwell, they move between a world of secure custody and an alternate, insecure prehistoric world. Psychologist Blue is at odds with Dr. Kantwell's bizarre treatment and its potentially devastating side-effects. She consults with Oscar's mother, and they conclude in secret that Jessica must follow Oscar into the prehistoric realm, where he also encounters Shea, an intriguing young tribal woman. Jessica and Oscar experience life-transforming adventures during their wildly surreal challenges. Finally, there is a question whether Oscar will return to his world, if in fact he can. In the ancient world they contend with a wily Shaman, his savage tribe, and a relentless saber-tooth tiger that the smart and rebellious Oscar dubs Scathe! The author has lived most of his life in and around Madison, Wisconsin, where he earned a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin.
