Lourdes Ayala was born in New York City, but she was raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Her writing first appeared in El condor, a student publication, when she was a student at Hunter College. Lourdes enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and organizing and attending cultural events. She has produced plays for Spanish-speaking theatres in New York City. She currently lives in New Jersey.
Margarita Isona-Rodriguez was born and educated in Cayey, Puerto Rico. She came to New York and received her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts. Margarita currently lives in New York City, where she is a reading and early childhood bilingual teacher.
Kathryn Shoemaker has illustrated many children's books, including Los niños alfabeticos, Oh Brother, Oh Sister(Millikan), and Jenny's Neighbors (Annick Press). She currently lives in Canada with her family.
