Securing the Communist State The

From Berlin to Bucharest, and Warsaw to Sofia, Soviet tanks crossed national borders through East Central Europe at the end of World War II. The arrival of the Red Army marked an important turning point in history. In only a few years, the often unpopular communist parties developed into political opposition to their rule, and purge the state apparatus of undesirable personnel.
