The Securitization of Migration in the Post-Cold War Era broadly examines the movement of people and the system of order underpinning that movement. It provides an overview of the integration of migration into international security frameworks emphasizing policing and defence.The book draws upon works of security and international relations scholars such as Williams, Barnett and Duvall in order to understand the concepts of power underlying security frameworks and how these affect the treatment of migrants and immigrants. In a comparative analysis of Canada and France, the role of media and political agents are highlighted in order to provide a social framework to understand the eventual process and outcomes of the securitization of migration.The book will be of interest to students and scholars concerned with comparative and theoretical approaches to security and migration studies.
