In Sentinel Event Behind Bars, a Correctional Officer, prison guard, dies in the medical facility of a maximum security state penitentiary in North Carolina. Doctor Jacob Stein, a physician surveyor for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations known as JCAHO, is once again assigned to investigate the incident, a sentinel event, for JCAHO.Jake becomes suspicious that the C.O. was actually murdered, but before he can report his suspicions to the BOP, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, he is trapped behind bars, surrounded by high concrete walls, because of a tropical hurricane.Jake and his wife, Rhoda, are taken hostage with a threat to be killed, but before they can be harmed they are rescued at the eleventh hour in an unexpected turn of events.
