Separate But Equal?: Academic and Vocational Education Post-16

A dichotomy between "academic" and "vocational" education has marked the English education system. Still powerfully shaped by myths about the education of "leaders," this division has kept each side too narrowly drawn. Further, the belief that higher education is properly reserved for an academically-minded few has kept participation rates below those of most comparable countries.
