Sing Out! Six Classic Folk Songs for Tomorrow

Folk songs such as “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain," “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad,” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” take on lives of their own, becoming stand-alone stories featuring several zany characters, including an acrobatic pink-haired roller-skater girl, a straw hat-wearing unshaven hillbilly astronaut, a banjo-playing cow-loving weasel, and a hard-working monkey who happens to love dumplings! The accompanying recordings of these popular sing-along songs for kids highlight gifted singers and seasoned musicians, producing a fresh original sound for a new generation. A unique code for the digital download of the recordings is also included.

Sophie Casson studied graphic design at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She was a finalist for the 2011 Governor General’s Award (Children’s Literature—Illustration), and has won many awards both in Canada and the United States. Her illustrations have appeared in a wide range of magazines including Businessweek, The New York Times, Canadian Business, The Globe and Mail,Châtelaine, and L’actualité. She recently exhibited her work at the International Design House Exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan. Sin and Swoon is a duo made up of Ottawa Valley native Michael James O’Brien and Antigonish, Nova Scotia’s Michelle Tompkins. They have backed-up several popular Montreal acts in the past, notably Patrick Watson, The Barr Brothers, Plants and Animals, and Thus Owls. Their debut album, Did I turn the oven off?, came out in 2015.
