A complete reproduction of the 1932 Sloppy Joe's Bar guide with a new introduction by Ross Bolton.Back in the heyday of Cuba, Havana was frequented by tourists like Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, and of course "Papa" Ernest Hemingway. To 'do' Havana, one had to visit at least Bar La Florida (cradle of the daiquiri) and Sloppy Joe's (home of the worlds longest mahogany bar and liquor cabinet). This book includes a brief history of the saloon beginnings written by the bar's owner Jose Abeal, includes about 80 drinks using Rum, Gin, Whiskey, Absinthe and more, and as a special bonus includes the image of a Sloppy Joe's tourist postcard!Later when prohibition ended in the U.S. Joe Russell open his saloon in Key West, which later was named Sloppy Joe's after the Havana Bar. The bars have no relation to each other except their patrons of the time.
