Special Operations Forces in Afghanistan

The Western response to the terrorist attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001 was the insertion of special operations forces in Afghanistan, whose Taliban regime was sheltering the al Qaeda leadership. The author describes the remarkable results obtained by specific US and Coalition SOF units from 2001 and their organization, weapons and tactics. He also frankly explains a number of operational failures, such as the missed opportunity at Tora Bora in December 2001, and the botched opening of Operation 'Anaconda' in March 2002. The illustrations include many rare private photos and detailed colour plates, drawing upon his unrivalled SOF contacts. Book jacket.
