Staging International Feminisms

This new volume in the Studies in International Performance series looks at feminism's engagement with and relationship to global change. The contributors attempt to develop a global scholarly dialogue by using examples from a range of countries (Israel, Japan, Korea, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Italy) as well as more familiar perspectives from the US and UK. The book aims to show a variety of performance practices which are considered to be 'feminist' from a large number of representative countries and locales.

SUE-ELLEN CASE is Professor and Chair of Theatre Critical Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. Her previous publications include Feminism and Theatre, Performing Feminisms, Split Britches: Lesbian Practice, Feminist Performance, The Divided Home/Land: Contemporary German Women Playwrights and The Domain-Matrix: Performing Lesbian at the End of Print Culture.

ELAINE ASTON is Professor of Contemporary Performance at Lancaster University, UK, where she teaches and researches feminist theatre, theory and performance. Her books include An Introduction to Feminism and Theatre, Caryl Churchill, Feminist Theatre Practice and Feminist Views on the English Stage. With Janelle Reinelt, she is editor of Palgrave's Performance Interventions series.
