John Quincy Adams was born in 1767. He was the son of the second president John Adams. He was an American politician, diplomat, and the 6th President. As Secretary of State Adams helped form the Monroe Doctrine. After loosing the presidential election to Andrew Jackson, Adams served as a representative in congress for the state of Massachusetts. He was the only president to serve in congress after being president, holding this office for the last 17 years of his life.
