Stolen Horses

Tyler was a young man with an unknown heritage. He lived on the Circle-J Ranch near Fairplay, Colorado and looked up to Jake, the ranch owner, as a father. Tyler's world consisted of ranch chores, horses, vast valleys of grass surrounded by towering mountain peaks and capped by the Colorado sky. In 1895, Tyler was seventeen years old and old enough, Jake reckoned, to take care of an important task; moving a band of brood mares over the spiny ridge of the Continental Divide to Grand Junction where they were to be bred to a famous stallion. Tyler set out to fulfill his assignment confident that he could handle it, yet never suspecting the troubles that lay ahead. This is the story of a young man coming of age in the Wild West. Only the toughness and character instilled in him by the hard but kind man who had taken him in as a boy would see him through the trials he must face while dealing with a mysterious person who steals the brood mares, a gambler who claims to be his friend and the great unknown quantity for any young man- women.
