The casualties of armed confrontation are not always found on the battlefield. Such is the central theme behind 'Stories from the New War,' a collection of more than one hundred short pieces that deal with the lives of individuals in an anonymous modern city; how they live and work, how they treat one another in the face of unending attacks from a faceless enemy, how they move toward their ultimate fate, for better or worse, without ever once setting foot in the trenches.
