The Strategic Shape of the World; Proceedings of MEA-IISS Foreign Policy Dialogue

This book is a record of the proceedings of the Second Foreign Policy Dialogue between the Public Diplomacy Division of India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the leading international think tank, International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), London, held at New Delhi in December 2007. The book dwells on the myriad security-related challenges that confront the global community and how these might influence the strategic shape of the world, the forging of new alliances and the strategic choices that the international community and nation states would face. The MEA-IISS dialogue focused on three areas: the strategic shape of the world, international terrorism and energy security, and discussed the possible ways in which these could be addressed nationally, regionally and globally.

Amit Dasgupta assumed charge as the Joint Secretary of the Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in January 2007. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1979 and has served in various capacities in Delhi and abroad. He has edited a number of books and is currently working on two books on India; his first fiction title In the Land of the Blue Jasmine has gone into its second edition.
