Sudden Spring

Sudden Spring is primarily about the discovery of the soul. Although it is written from a Christian perspective, the poems dare to find God in all things, sensing that the world is a beautiful sea of divine love and mercy. In this great spiritual sea, Miller often returns to the people who are most important to him, revealing how they have helped him to return to his heart— to that eternal breath which makes life worth living. So, dare to open your eyes to the angels and to the mystery of a world touched by heaven. For in this world, life begins and ends with love. A love that never dies. Sudden Spring reads like an epic prayer.

James Miller began writing poetry as an undergraduate in the English department at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in creative writing, James continued to New York University where he received his Master of Fine Arts in poetry. After graduating, he began teaching creative writing and English composition at the college level. Since then, his poetry has been published widely both at home in the States and abroad. He is the author of two books of poetry, Shell Songs (2018) and Walkways (2024). James is also a singer-songwriter, and much of his music can be heard at jamesmillerarts.com.
