This epic, pre-war tale tells of a young woman's struggle to operate a flying-boat service from Southampton to Darwin, burdened by debts, irascible passengers and a four-legged stowaway. Her increasingly desperate measures are witnessed, and invariably assisted, by her bemused but besotted co-pilot.
