TABLOID! is unlike anything you've ever experienced.This satirical comedy pits the biggest Hollywood celebrities: George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise, and (saving the best for last) Britney Spears against their long-time nemesis: the celebrity tabloid. Summoned by the mysterious Mr. Smith, the celebrities are presented a plan and a mission: infiltrate the lives of Werner and Lanthrop Dunhill, the publishers of the notorious new tabloid CU, find their secrets and weaknesses, and present it all in a tabloid of the celebrities' own doing, aptly called The Truth. The hunted now become the hunter. The Truth will attempt to expose and bring shame upon these two, and set a "Big Brother" tone for the rest of the supermarket tabloids as well. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, this is an old-fashioned revenge story of biblical proportions. Justice will be served. It takes some coaxing but soon the celebrities are in full accord. The teams, with their appointed nicknames, are as follows: George and Julia - Two's Company; Brad, Angelina and Jennifer - The Three Amigos; Tom and Britney 86 & 99 (from the old Get Smart show). Their missions: Two's Company - seduce and document an illicit "affair" with Werner Dunhill; The Three Amigos - stage a salacious "rendezvous" in order to draw Lanthrop out of his mansion; 86 & 99 - break into Lanthrop's mansion and find his secret (its a doozie). The things they discover, the things they create, even if need be embellished, will be used in The Truth. The pen is truly mightier than the sword.The sub-plots between the characters mirror what is found in the supermarket check-out line: Old feelings resurfacing between George and Julia? What really did happen in Monterey? Why are the Pitts (and the ex-Pitts) fighting? Someone unfaithful...or worse? Does Tom have eyes for Angelina (Bad Tom)? Is Britney going over the edge or is it just the company she keeps. Throw in a "kidnapped" Tiffany, Lanthrop Dunhill's teen-age daughter, and the hi-jinks never miss a page.Dubbed the Gang of 7, the celebrities and The Truth go viral. Trumpeted by the biggest voices of the day: Ellen, Jay, Conan, David, the Nightly News trio, Mario, the Truth successfully brings the necessary shame to shut down CU and send the Dunhills running for cover.Even with CU six feet under, the celebrities return to get an answer to the question that has dogged them from the beginning: who is this Mr. Smith and who is he really? When they do find out their reactions defy words. They never knew something could top their already over-the-top lives. They'll never be the same. Nor will the world of celebrity tabloids.
