Some time ago, eight Kawartha authors gathered at Pappas Billiards, located in the heart of downtown Peterborough, Ontario. Each was given a character named from the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. Each has written a story, a story that begins and ends in The Raven Café.Fred Cahoon (Lenore Allan) is a retired microbiologist who lives with his wife on the Severn River north of Orillia. He has written eighteen short story memoirs and is currently working on his first novel, Rogue Wave. Val Crowley (Gliddon Edgar) chases her muse in an ever changing country setting next to the family farm near Peterborough, Ontario. She enjoys being part of authors' groups and writes stories for children and adults, as well as poetry. Lloyd Graham (Napoleon Simpson) has truly enjoyed writing collaboratively with the seven talented writers who brought amazing characters and story lines to the Raven Café. Dean is a co-author of Murder at Market Hall. First elected to City Council in 2006, Dean is also a local businessman and community volunteer. He was born and raised in Peterborough. He is the owner and operator of Pappas Billiards.Jay Perkins (Auguste Dupin) has only recently (1985) become a Peterborough local. He is currently a year round market gardener and part time author who, like all authors, has several books under construction.Claire Sullivan (Morella Ecclestoen) weaves the landscapes of life into stories. Coming out in 2011 is Master Gardener, a novel where herbs sometimes rule the world. Claire lives, writes and gardens in Peterborough, Ontario. She travels and makes art wherever life takes her.
