Ten Steps to a Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation System

There are increasing demands on governments and organisations around the world to be more responsive to the demands of internal and external stakeholders for good governance, accountability and transparency, greater development effectiveness, and delivery of tangible results. This publication sets out a ten-step model designed to help guide development practitioners through the process of designing and building a results-based monitoring and evaluation system. Detailed guidance is given about the design, management, and sustainability of such systems, and aspects covered include conducting a readiness assessment; selection of key indicators to determine identified outcomes; baseline data; planning and monitoring; and reporting findings.
