Territorial Choice The Politics of Boundaries and Borders

This book presents the experiences of eleven European countries in the field of territorial reforms. Based on case-studies that outline the basic features of the politics of territorial choice in the respective countries, the focus is on national policies, politics, and cleavages; the strategies employed and the outcomes of the reforms.

HARALD BALDERSHEIM is Professor of Political Science at the University of Oslo, Norway. He specializes in public administration and local government studies, including e-government, and has published extensively in these fields.

LAWRENCE E. ROSE is Professor of Political Science at the University of Oslo, Norway. He specializes in local government and politics, local democracy, issues of democratic citizenship, and comparative political behaviour. Together with Bas Denters he edited Comparing Local Governance (2005).
