Terror and Toleration

Many negative stereotypes of Muslims can be traced to the clashes between the Ottoman Empire and Christian Europe in the Middle Ages. Paula Sutter Fichtner is professor of history emerita at Brooklyn College and Graduate Center at the City University of New York. She is author of many books, including Protestantism and Primogeniture in Early Modern Germany, Emperor Maximilian II, and The Habsburg Monarchy, 1490–1848.
