The coming together of theologians from the marginalized communities to form Ecumenical Association of the Third World Theologians (EATWOT) marked the end to a North Atlantic stranglehold of Christian theology. Theologians from the third world were prompted to create a collective space: a space where people could come together to work toward freedom, gender co-responsibility, and racial and ethnic equality. EATWOT also aimed to generate a theology that preserved the integrity of creation, and demanded respect and interfaith dialogue for the ultimate promotion of full humanity.

This book offers an interpretative history of the formative years of the Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians. This enquiry is framed within the current theological challenges confronted by the marginalized - those who were pushed aside and treated as invisible non-persons by the prevailing neoliberal economic order.
