Theosophy in Dante s Divine Comedy, 1923

1923. The Divine Comedy is the drama of spiritual evolution. Perhaps there exists no poetical work elaborated with such care and precision, and which indicates more occult knowledge. In the Divine Comedy Beatrice is the symbol of divine philosophy or revelation, the higher self in man; Virgil represents reason or intellect, the purely human element in the training of the soul. Dante's work is full of theosophical meaning and alludes to many critical beliefs of theosophical students.
