Set in the wide open spaces of the West, at a time when the country was still expanding, Joe Ford makes his way westward in search of his place in the world. Joe Ford will meet many different people with many different personalities, some helpful, some less so, but all interesting and unique in their motivations and experiences. Joe's strength of character is put to an ultimate test. How will his experiences and the influence of those he meets along the way shape his fate?

Born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, C.W. Houston graduated from Hillsboro High School and Oregon State University. He served his country for four years as an artillery man in the U.S. Army. He has also earned his way picking strawberries, as a janitor, was hired on to the U.S. Forest Service, worked in a dental lab, and even taught conversational English in South Korea. For the last 10+ years, has been in the employ of Kaiser Permanente Hospital. He enjoys painting, woodworking, rockhounding, the out-of-doors, and of course – writing.
