To Tithe or Not to Tithe : The Fundamentals on Giving

Does your giving make you smile? Does your giving make God smile? In the Bible, Christ challenged the rich young ruler to give, but that young man loved his possessions and turned away the opportunity to share his wealth. We¿ve all been challenged in the area of giving. We are to give with a cheerful heart. God wants us to partner with Jesus Christ and those who serve him so that we can see the kingdom of God expand. Christ told believers not to let the cares of this world distract them from ¿occupying¿ until He comes. Occupying includes caring for the church and the needs of its staff. It is appropriate to tackle the issue of giving at this time when the economy is proving itself unprofitable. The only real investment we can make are investments in God¿s kingdom. Thieves can¿t steal, nor moths corrupt the money we send ahead to heaven when we give here on earth. Those investments will never need bailing out.
