A longtime bioregionalist, Stephanie Mills has written scores of articles and essays which have appeared in periodicals ranging from The Britannica Book of the Year to Glamour. She is the editor of two books, In Praise of Nature (1990, Island Press) and Turning Away From Technology (1997, Sierra Club Books). She is the author of Whatever Happened to Ecology? (1989, Sierra Club Books) and In Service of the Wild (1995, Beacon Press). In 1996 Stephanie Mills was named one of the Utne Reader's Visionaries.
