The Truth About Unicorns

Unicorns is set in the late 1920s and early 30s. It presents the kind of insular rural community, similar to the one Shirley Jackson conjured up in The Lottery, that is largely untouched by time. Its preoccupations remain the same as one decade slides into another. The Parmalee family curse has been in place for ages. Red-haired women have never brought anything but trouble to this town. And there ain't nothing new about what teenagers get up to in the woods.
