Twice Blessed

Here the nationally known storyteller shows that she is also a keen observer in the best tradition of the journalist and diarist. Windham left newspapering in Selma, Alabama, in the 1960s to begin her new calling as a roving observer/correspondent. She takes us to such places as Gees Bend, an isolated all-black farming community which was an experiment in federal agriculture policy. She shares with us her enthusiasm for interests as diverse as photography and cemeteries. Throughout, we are introduced to the fascinating characters that have filled her life.
