For Von Balthasar there is no doubt that the Incarnation and Mission of Jesus is intimately connected to the Paschal Mystery. His revelatory and salvific mission culminates with the resurrection on Easter Sunday. These essays explore what Balthasar would consider the real message of Easter. Balthasar understands Jesus as the one 'sent', to reveal an eternal sender. Jesus does the will of the Father, which is his mission, but that mission, Balthasar believes, is one presented to him as a man by a further divine person, the divine Spirit. The Holy Spirit mediating the mission to Jesus is interpreted by Balthasar as the economic form of the eternal mutuality between the Father and Son, the eternal 'we' between an eternal 'I' and an eternal 'thou'.
