Broadly divided into five sections, this book covers recharge mechanisms and the urban water balance, urban recharge management, sewer exfiltraion, assessment of contaminant impacts, and urban aquifer management. It explores the scientific and technical progress made in areas such as the urban water balance, contaminant source characterization and transport, aquifer vulnerability mapping, artificial recharge and the control of groundwater in deep excavations, roads, and tunnels. The book goes on to discuss how to integrate these advances into effective, holistic, plans for pro-active, sustainable urban groundwater management.
