US Foreign Policy and the Horn of Africa

Woodward examines a hitherto ignored part of the International Chess board - the Horn of Africa.ÿ The interests of the United States in the region are explored and studied through two cases: Sudan and Somalia.This book looks at the relationship between United States perceptions of Islamism in the two countries and argues that the United States has pursued the containment of Sudan and Somalia.ÿ The effects of the Eritrean-Ethiopian war on United States policy and posture in the region are discussed along with the effects other regional wars.ÿ It brings a unique point of view to the ongoing debate over United States policy in the Islamic world.
