James has spent the last 800 years alone, never finding love until the day he met Claire and fell instantly for her. Claire does not know what to think about James. He is kind, handsome, and very mysterious. She, being a history professor, finds his knowledge of the past fascinating. She does not know this knowledge is so accurate because he lived during the times they discussed. Before her departure home, she finds herself falling deeply in love with James. Vanessa, James's ex-lover from the 17th century, has vowed that if he will not be with her, he will not be with anyone. James, therefore, begins to fear for Claire's life. He brings Claire to stay at his home with him. Putting together clues, she figures out he is a vampire. She accepts him for what he is. In an act of hatred, Vanessa attempts to have Claire murdered. As she lies dying in James's arms, he must make a decision. Does he let the only woman that has ever loved him die... or change her into a vampire to live for eternity with him?
