Elinor Glyn was a British novelist and scriptwriter. She was a pioneer in erotic fiction for women and coined the word It as a euphemism for sex. She moved to Hollywood where she worked with Gloria Swanson and Rudolph Valentino. Her training in the ways of the upper class by her grandmother not only gave her an entrée into aristocratic circles on her return to Europe, but it led her to be considered an authority on style and breeding when she worked in Hollywood in the 1920s. The Visits of Elizabeth was originally published in 1900.
