Borders are the scars of history; to overcome them is the aim of regional crossborder cooperation in Europe since the late 1950s. French border regions are indeed exemplary: the frontiers of France with Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Spain provide us with a wide range of crossborder experiences.
