Dan Wilder is a dinosaur in the ever changing world of criminal investigations. He dates back to another era when it comes to detective work. He solves his cases the old fashioned way; by talking to people, asking hard questions and getting answers, sometimes by twisting arms; and a lot of footwork. He isn't up on all the latest gadgets like computers, long range bugging devices, or any other electronic equipment; not when he has to operate them anyway. He sees his cases through to the end, even if he happens to get fired along the way. Like Dan says, "I like a good mystery." This book has two stories. The first is "Garbage In - Garbage Out." It deals with a missing garbage magnate from the San Francisco bay area. Dan takes the case only to wind up being framed for the murder of a restaurateur. In the second story, "The Case of the Fourth Monkey" Dan is hired to find a missing Jade monkey that makes up a set of four in the collection owned by a multi-millionaire. When dead bodies start turning up, Dan realizes that there are others seeking the valuable object as well. Exciting and humorous from start to finish.
